SUBJECT: SOFT TOP MATERIAL WEAR FROM RUBBING ON STOWAGE
COVER

MODELS AFFECTED: 1990 (WITH RPO V4J) - 1992 ALLANTES

Figure 1:

Some 1990 (with RPO V4J) - 1992 Allantes may exhibit wear of the soft top material above the quarter windows (often most pronounced on the fabric bead). Refer to Figure 1. This condition is caused by the top material rubbing on the bottom side of the stowage cover when the top is in the stowed position. To repair this condition use the following service procedure:

Figure 2:

1. Inspect the bottom side of the soft top stowage cover for polished spots indicating wear areas. Refer to Figure 2.

Figure 3:

2. Apply 3M No. 5430 squeak reduction tape, or equivalent, on the bottom side of the stowage cover, completely covering suspected contact points. Refer to Figure 3.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation T6578 at .2 hour.
