E060

Transaxle Position Selector (PRNDL) Circuit:

DESCRIPTION:

Code E60 will set if the cruise control is engaged and the Park/Neutral switch is closed, indicating the transmission is in Park or Neutral. The primary purpose of this code is to detect an action of the drive that could cause an unsafe condition or damage to the vehicle. This code can be driver induced by shifting the gear selector into neutral when the cruise control is engaged. A failure of the PRNDL switch may cause the code to set. Check for code E91.

TEST CONDITIONS:

1. Cruise control enabled.
2. Cruise control engaged.

FAILURE CONDITIONS:

Transmission in Park/Neutral.

ACTION TAKEN:

1. Disengage cruise control.

NOTE ON INTERMITTENTS:

If code E60 is stored as a history code, select PCM data P.2.2 and P.2.3. Manipulate harness while observing the status of the switch. If the switch changes status while the wiring is being manipulated, repair the intermittent connections. If no trouble is found, explain to the customer that this code can be induced if the transmission is inadvertently put into neutral while the cruise control is engaged.
