E080
Emissions Test Circuit:
DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this diagnostic test is to detect a rich condition caused by the fuel injection system, or by an evaporative fuel canister that is purging continuously and causing a rich condition in the engine. The code can only be set during sustained steady driving, such as sustained cruise control operation. When all of the above test conditions have been met and block learn is 104 or less, the system turns off canister purge to attempt to make the system become less rich. If block learn is still 104 or less (rich system), the code is set.
1. A rich fuel injection system can be caused by:
a. Leaking injector.
b. Faulty pressure regulator.
c. Restricted fuel return line.
Refer to Charts A-4 and A-5 to test these components.
2. Continuous canister purge can be caused by:
a. A leaking purge valve.
b. Purge solenoid, circuit or PCM.
TEST CONDITIONS:
1. Codes E14, E15, E16, E21, E22, E26, E27, E31, E32, and E34 all must be clear.
2. Throttle switch open.
3. In closed loop.
4. Throttle angle between 6° and 30°.
5. Coolant temperature above 82°C.
6. Canister has been at a purge duty cycle of 94% (purge enabled) at a throttle angle of 10° or greater for 10 minutes.
FAILURE CONDITIONS:
Block learn is at 104 or less for 25 seconds.
ACTION TAKEN:
1. PCM turns on "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" telltale.
2. Code E80 sets.
