Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair

A/C CONDENSER






TOOL REQUIRED
^ J 38042 Dual O-Ring Joint Separator (or equivalent)

CAUTION: Brazed fittings are on the condenser and evaporator. These fittings cannot be turned because the fitting is brazed to the pipe. It is important that the service technician recognize which fitting is to be turned and use backup wrenches. The brazed fitting not to be turned is always the same color as the pipe it is brazed to (unpainted or unplated aluminum).

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Recover refrigerant from A/C system, Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling. Service and Repair
2. Battery hold down and battery.
3. Air cleaner attaching bracket screw.
4. Lines from auxiliary transmission cooler (if equipped).
5. Upper radiator panel bolts and panel.
6. Condenser inlet and outlet lines.
7. Mounting bracket bolts and brackets.
8. Upper insulators.
9. Condenser by tilting radiator toward engine.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Condenser into position by tilting radiator toward engine.
2. Upper insulators.
3. Mounting brackets and bolts.
^ Tighten Bolts to 6 Nm (53 lb. in.).
4. Condenser inlet and outlet lines.
^ Tighten Condenser connections to 24 Nm (18 lb. in.).
5. Upper radiator panel and bolts.
^ Tighten Bolts to 9.5 Nm (84 lb. in.).
6. Lines to auxiliary transmission cooler (if equipped).
7. Air cleaner attaching bracket and screw.
8. Battery and battery hold down.
9. Evacuate, charge, and leak test A/C system.
