SUBJECT:
INTERMITTENT DELAYED DRIVE OR REVERSE ENGAGEMENT
MODELS AFFECTED:
1991-1992 DE VILLES, FLEETWOODS, ELDORADOS, AND SEVILLES WITH HYDRA-MATIC 4T60-E TRANSAXLE
Some 1991-1992 DeVilles, Fleetwoods, Eldorados, and Sevilles may experience a condition of delayed drive or reverse engagement cold usually after a long soak.
This condition may be caused by a rolled or cut input clutch piston outer seal (item 635 in the Service Information Manual or parts and illustration catalog).
NOTE:
An air check of the piston as a diagnostic aid could be misleading. The seal may look good during visual inspection but should be replaced if the above condition is present. The seal may have rolled back into proper position during disassembly.
Refer to the appropriate Service Information Manual automatic transaxle unit repair Hydra-Matic 4T60-E Section.
