SUBJECT:
REAR BRAKE SHOES FREEZE TO DRUMS

MODELS AFFECTED:
1991 DE VILLES AND FLEETWOODS

Some 1991 DeVille and Fleetwood rear brake shoes may temporarily freeze to the brake drum when the rear brake shoes are damp and the ambient temperature is 32~ F or lower. This condition is more likely to occur after the vehicle has been exposed to a car wash or heavy slush and then is parked for some time.

To repair this condition replace both left and right brake shoes with rear brake shoe, P/N 12510003. The shoes have a lower metallic content and will more easily break loose from the brake drum.

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
