SUBJECT:
FUSE BLOCK PANEL FALLS OPEN

MODELS AFFECTED:
1991 DE VILLES AND FLEETWOODS

Some 1991 DeVilles and Fleetwoods built before VIN breakpoint 205461 may experience the fuse panel opening while traveling over bumps or when the park brake is released.

To repair this condition use the following procedure:

1. Lower the fuse block by pinching the release tabs.

Figure 1 - Fuse Block Retention Stud:

2. Locate the fuse block retention stud. Refer to Figure 1. The stud can be seen looking upward through the fuse block opening.

3. Using a 10 mm socket loosen the nut which secures the fuse block bracket to the stud. With the nut loosened, push the entire fuse block bracket as far forward as possible. Hold the bracket in the forward position and tighten the nut 8-11 N-m (10-14 lbs.in.).

If necessary, reattach the fuse block retainer to the bracket by snapping the retainer over the ears of the bracket. Return the fuse block to the closed position.
