This bulletin has been revised to include warranty information.
Figure 1 - Gap Between I/P Top Cover to I/P Panel Carrier:
Some 1990-1991 DeVilles and Fleetwoods may experience a large gap between the instrument panel top cover (upper) to the instrument panel carrier (lower) at the left A/C outlet. Refer to Figure 1. This may be caused by interference between the A/C valve housing and lower surface. To repair this condition use the following procedure:
1. Remove I/P top cover. Refer to Section 8C in the Service Information Manual.
2. Place I/P top cover upside down on a clean, non-abrasive surface.
Figure 2 - Removal of Screws Securing the A/C Valve to the Top Cover:
3. Remove the two screws securing the driver-side A/C valve to the top cover. Refer to Figure 2.
Figure 3 - Elongated Mounting Holes:
4. Elongate the mounting holes to allow for tight fit of the A/C valve to the top cover. Refer to Figure 3.
5. File approximately 3-4 mm of material off of the driver-side A/C duct shut-off valve in the area indicated. Refer to Figure 3.
Figure 4 - Installation of Driver-Side A/C Duct Shut-Off Valve to Upper Cover:
6. Install driver-side A/C duct shut-off valve to upper cover. Refer to Figure 4.
7. Remove cluster filler trim.
Figure 5 - Elongated Mounting Hole:
8. Elongate the mounting hole approximately 2 mm to allow filler trim to move upward. Refer to Figure 5.
9. Install filler trim to upper cover.
10. Position upper cover to instrument panel lower.
Figure 6 - Installation of Screws to Outboard A/C Outlets:
11. Install screws to outboard A/C outlets while holding top cover down tight to the carrier. Refer to Figure 6.
12. Install screws to inboard A/C outlets.
13. Install screws in the glove box.
14. Install screws to the windshield defroster grille.
