Care must be taken not to overextend driveshaft Tri-Pot joints when replacing suspension components. Overextending joint could cause separation of internal joint components, resulting in failure of the joint.
1. Remove ball joint from steering knuckle as outlined under BALL JOINT.
2. Remove control arm bushing bolt and brake reaction rod nut, retainer and insulator, Fig. 2.
3. Remove the control arm from frame.
4. Install control arm on frame.
5. Install control arm bushing bolt and nut, retainer and insulator but do not tighten bolt.
6. Install lower ball joint in steering knuckle as outlined.
7. Reverse remaining procedure to complete installation. Torque bolts to specifications as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
