SUBJECT: STRIPPED OIL PAN DRAIN PLUG


MODELS AFFECTED: 1991 DE VILLES, ELDORADOS, AND SEVILLES


Some 1991 DeVilles, Eldorados, and Sevilles may experience stripping of the engine oil pan drain plug threads during routine service. This condition may be caused by weld spatter on the threads of the oil pan drain hole from the manufacturing operation.

To repair this condition install a new drain plug, P/N 10017615, and retap the oil pan threads with an M8 x 1.25 tap.

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation T6556 at .4 hour.
