Right-Hand Drive Axle Boot - Grease Leak

90cadillac14
Bulletin No. T-91-22
File in Group 4
Number 1
Corp. Ref. No. 014401
Date Nov. 1990
SUBJECT: DRIVE AXLE BOOT LEAKS

MODELS AFFECTED: 1990-1991 ELDORADOS AND SEVILLES

Some 1990 Eldorados and Sevilles and 1991 Eldorados (up to VIN MU606000) and Sevilles (up to VIN MU806000) may experience a grease leak at the right-hand inboard drive axle boot. This condition may be caused by a misrouted cable that goes from the battery to the alternator rubbing on the drive axle boot.

To repair this condition reposition the electrical cable so that it is not looped close to the drive axle. After repositioning, be certain that the cable does not interfere with any other vehicle components. Replace the drive axle boot per Service Information Manual procedures. Thoroughly clean and inspect the inboard joint assembly for wear. If the housing, spider, or bearing blocks exhibit any wear, they may also need to be replaced.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation T6513 at 1.2 hours with an add time of .3 hour to replace tri-pot joint.
