Road Test
Perform the following road test and note system operation. If a cause for the observed malfunction cannot be determined by following troubleshooting procedures, proceed to SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
Perform road test with cruise control switch on and vehicle speed above 25 mph.
1. Place engagement switch in Set/Coast position, then release it. Cruise engage indicator should light and vehicle should maintain speed.
2. Hold engage switch in Set/Coast position with foot off accelerator. Vehicle should coast at a slower speed.
3. Release Set/Coast switch. Cruise control should engage and hold a slower speed above 25 mph.
4. Place engage switch in Resume/Accel position and hold it there. Vehicle should accelerate.
5. Release engage switch. Vehicle should hold new faster speed.
6. Tap brake pedal. Vehicle should coast slower.
7. Place engage switch in Resume/Accel position momentarily. Vehicle should accelerate to former set speed.
8. While cruising, accelerate, then remove foot from accelerator pedal. Vehicle should coast back to set speed.
9. While cruising, tap engage switch to Resume/Accel position. Vehicle speed should increase with each tap 1 mph.
10. While cruising, tap engage switch to Set/Coast position. Vehicle speed should decrease 1 mph for each tap down to 25 mph.
11. Place cruise control switch in Off position. Cruise control should turn off.
