Lighting and Horns: Description and Operation
The Illuminated Entry Timer receives voltage at all times from the Body Fuse and is activated whenever an Outside Door Handle Switch is pushed. As the Outside Door Handle Switch provides a momentary ground, the Illuminated Entry Timer closes an internal solid state switch. The internal switch closes the WHT (156) circuit to ground at G302. When provided with a ground, the Courtesy Lamps illuminate the vehicle's interior prior to driver or passenger entry. The Illuminated Entry Timer holds the internal switch closed for approximately 20 seconds. When the Ignition Switch is turned to "RUN," battery voltage is applied through terminal E to a solid state relay within the Illuminated Entry Timer. With battery voltage present, the relay opens and breaks the power input circuit to the 20 second timer. Without voltage, the timer is unable to hold the solid state ground switch closed. When the switch opens, the WHT (156) circuit is no longer grounded through G302 and the Courtesy Lamps go out.
