Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Check the hydrometer eye built into the vehicle Battery before troubleshooting the Starter System.
^ Green eye: Battery is charged.
^ Dark eye: Battery is discharged. Recharge Battery.
^ Clear or yellow eye: Battery fluid is low. Replace Battery.
2. Check Battery for overcharge conditions such as spewing of electrolyte or yellowing of Battery case. Refer to the Battery if any of these conditions are discovered.
3. Check that Starter Solenoid terminals S and B and Battery connections are clean and tight.
4. Check that grounds G100 and G101 are clean and tight.
