Trunk / Liftgate: Description and Operation
OpeningWhen the trunk lid is opened, the Trunk open/closed lever is released and closes to ground. In addition to providing a ground path to TRUNK WARNING Indicator, lighting the Indicator, ground is also routed through the striker down/extended lever to Pull/Down motor terminal B. Battery voltage is supplied through another striker down/extend lever contact to motor terminal A. The motor operates forward extending the striker until the striker down/extended lever is toggled up by the lower actuator pin on the striker and opens the motor circuit.
Closing
The trunk lid is manually lowered until the lock assembly is latched to raise the striker. Ground is supplied from the lock assembly latched/unlatched switch ground wire through the striker, the raised striker down/extend lever contact, to Motor terminal A. Battery voltage is supplied through another striker down/extend lever contact to Motor terminal B. The Motor operates in reverse pulling the striker down until the lock assembly depresses the Trunk open/closed lever, opening the "UP" circuit. At the same time, the striker down/extended lever is toggled down by the upper actuator pin on the Striker, opening the Motor and TRUNK WARNING Indicator circuits.
