SQUAWK/MOAN NOISE DURING VISCOUS CONVERTER CLUTCH (VCC) APPLY
MODELS AFFECTED:
1991-1992 DEVILLES AND FLEETWOODS
This bulletin supersedes Service bulletin T-91-101 which should be discarded. This bulletin is being revised to include new parts and service procedures.
Some 1991-1992 DeVilles and Fleetwoods may experience a momentary squawk/moan noise when the VCC is applied.
This condition may be caused by a ground out of the transaxle cooler pipes at the cooler pipe clips where they attach to the lower tie bar.
To repair this condition install isolation kit, P/N 25614724. The isolation kit consists of two rubber grommets, two metal clips, and two screws.
To install the isolation kit use the following procedure:
1. Raise vehicle to gain access to cooler pipe clips attached to lower tie bar.
2. Unlatch both clips to release cooler pipes.
3. Remove clip attaching screws and clips.
4. Attach rubber grommets to cooler pipes in the same location as original clips.
5. Install metal clips over rubber grommets. Refer to Figure 1.
6. Attach clips to tie bar with screws provided in the kit. Torque to 5-7 N-m (4-5 lbs.ft.).
7. Lower vehicle.
Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
