Driver Door Ajar

Driver Door Ajar Diagnosis:

Driver Door Ajar Circuit:

TEST CONDITIONS:

The following conditions must be met:

1. Vehicle is a 2 door (BCM checks EEPROM).
2. PCM/ECM Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (UART) datalink is functioning properly (no code B334 set).

FAILURE CONDITION:

1. Engine is running.
2. Transmission not in Park or Neutral.
3. Driver door ajar.
4. "Driver Door Ajar" failure already present.
5. Driver door still ajar.

ACTION TAKEN:

Display the "Driver Door Ajar" message on the CCDIC.

The BCM provides system voltage to the driver door ajar circuit, and the driver door ajar switch provides the single path to ground. The BCM supplies and internally monitors the voltage level of the circuit at pin 3C12. When the driver door ajar circuit is open the BCM will detect system voltage, but if the driver door ajar switch provides a path to ground (driver door open), the BCM will detect the circuit has been grounded. Once the BCM has determined that all of the failure conditions have been met, it will send the "Driver Door Ajar" message to the CCDIC.

The failure conditions are divided up into two sets. The first set of conditions is used if the BCM has not detected the door ajar yet. If the BCM has already detected the door ajar, it will use the second set of conditions. This is done so that once the message has appeared, it will remain until the door has been closed properly.
