Ignition Lock Cylinder

Fig. 2 Lock Cylinder Set Removal. 1990-92 Models:

1. Disarm airbag as outlined under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING Failure to do so may result in accidental deployment of airbag, possibly causing personal injury.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable, remove steering wheel as outlined under HORN SOUNDER AND STEERING WHEEL. then remove turn signal switch as outlined under TURN SIGNAL SWITCH.
3. Remove key from lock, then remove buzzer switch assembly.
4. Place key in ``Lock'' position, then remove lock retaining screw, Fig. 2.
5. Disconnect electrical connector, retaining clip from housing cover, then withdraw lock cylinder assembly from column.
6. Reverse procedure to install. Torque lock retaining screw to 22 lb in
7. After all work has been completed, rearm airbag as outlined under ``Airbag Activation.''
