SUBJECT: TURN SIGNAL CHIME MAY BE LOUD, SOFT, OR UNPLEASANT
MODELS AFFECTED: 1988-1991 ELDORADOS AND SEVILLES
Some owners of 1988, 1989, 1990, and early 1991 Eldorados and Sevilles may comment that the turn signal chime is too loud, too soft, or unpleasant. During 1991 production the current turn signal chime will be replaced with a traditional turn signal clicker. The turn signal clicker may be installed in the past model Eldorados and Sevilles listed above if the owner prefers this to the turn signal chime.
To install the turn signal clicker you will need:
^ One turn signal clicker, P/N 3524120
^ One Relay connector body, P/N 12034003
^ One Relay connector body secondary lock, P/N 12033872
^ Terminal repair kit, essential tool J-38125
To install clicking turn signal use the following procedure:
1. Locate and disconnect turn signal chime behind left side of instrument panel above the park brake mechanism.
2. Remove turn signal chime connector using the proper terminal removal tool from the terminal repair kit J-38125. Discard turn signal chime and connector.
3. Insert terminals in relay connector body. Light blue wire (circuit 14) in cavity 5. Dark blue wire
(circuit 15) in cavity 2. Black/white wire (circuit 803) in cavity 4. Cut the terminal off the orange wire (circuit 140) and tape wire back to harness. Avoid shorting circuit 140 to ground.
4. Install secondary lock.
5. Connect and install turn signal clicker. The turn signal clicker may be installed using its integral clip in the same mounting position as the old turn signal chime.
6. Verify turn signal clicker operation.
