B132
BCM Code B132:
Oil Pressure Sensor Circuit:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:
The oil pressure indicator uses a variable resistor to control the signal voltage to the BCM. The BCM supplies voltage on CKT 31 to the sensor. When the engine is off (low oil pressure) the sensor resistance is low. When the engine is running (oil pressure high) the sensor resistance is high. The signal voltage will vary between 5 volts (open circuit) and 0 volts (short circuit).
Code B132 will set if the engine is running and the signal voltage indicates greater than 127 psi (98%).
TEST DESCRIPTION: Test numbers refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.
1. BCM data value BD71 displays oil pressure. With the engine not running the parameter should read below 5.
2. This will check for correct oil pressure sensor calibration and determine if there is a mechanical problem.
3. By applying a ground to various points in the circuit, an open can be isolated by watching the parameter display change to a short circuit reading.
NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS:
If an intermittent Code B132 is being set, manipulate the related wiring while observing BCM data value BD71. If the failure is induced, the reading will jump from 0 to normal oil pressure reading with the engine "OFF."
