B333

BCM Code B333:

BCM Circuit:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:
Code B333 will set if the ignition is "ON" and the BCM is not able to exchange data with the DERM (if any other communication codes are stored along with B333. See the chart on Multiple Intermittent Codes. When this is the only communication code stored, the problem must be one of the following:

^ An open CKT 800 between the IPC and DERM and a second open between the PCM and DERM.
^ An open or short in the DERM power or ground circuit.
^ A faulty DERM.

During the time the failure is resent, no DERM diagnostic information will be available for display. Also, while in the service diagnostic mode, this code will remain active, always for proper operation. The "SERVICE SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATABLE RESTRAINT" message will be displayed on the DIC.

TEST DESCRIPTION: Test numbers refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.

1. Under normal conditions, the DERM will cycle the telltale between 7 and 9 times at key "ON," if this is not happening, a power, ground, or internal DERM failure is indicated.
2. If multiple codes are present, a data line fault is indicated and should be diagnosed using the preceding multiple communication code chart.
3. A normal data line will fluctuate voltage as data signals are sent. If the voltage does not actuate at the DERM connector "A8," an open in CKT 800 between the DERM, IPC and PC is indicated.

NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS:
If only Code B333 is stored as "History," check the power and grounds for intermittent faults and 800 to the PCM for an intermittent circuit. If other data codes are stored, refer to "MULTIPLE INTERMITTENT CODES."
