B334

BCM Code B334:

BCM Circuit:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:
Code B334 will set if the ignition is "ON" and the BCM is not able to exchange data with the PCM (if an other communication codes are stored along with B334. Refer to Multiple Intermittent Codes). When this is the only communication code stored, the problem must be one of the following:

^ An open CKTs 800D and 800E
^ An open or short to ground in CKT 1039 or 480
^ A faulty PCM or PCM CAL-PAC

During the time the failure is present, a fail soft value equal to 10°C will be used for the coolant temperature, the cooling fans will be commanded to high-speed, and no PCM diagnostic information will be available for display. The "SYSTEM FAULT" message will be displayed on the DIC. Also, while in the service diagnostic mode, this code will remain active, always checking or proper operation.

TEST DESCRIPTION: Test numbers refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.

1. This step checks for intermittent operating conditions.
2. This step checks to see if there is an open in 800D and 800E.
3. If CKT 800 is OK, the problem is the PCM.

NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS:
If only Code B334 is stored as "History," check the power and grounds for intermittent faults and 800E for an intermittent open circuit. If PCM Code E052 history is also set, refer to that code.
