TEST CONDITIONS

The RSS module compares calculated road speed to the BCM road speed.

FAULT CONDITIONS

Car must be driven over 20 mph for code to set.

ACTION TAKEN

Set code S043, turn on "SERVICE RIDE CONTROL" message, command all four dampers to full firm.

DESCRIPTION

With every regularly scheduled diagnostic communication, the BCM/combo panel asses its calculated road speed to the RSS module. The module compares this road speed to the RSS calculated road speed. If the BCM road speed is greater than 20 MPH while the RSS road speed is less than 3 MPH for 10 seconds, this error is activated.

NOTES ON FAULT TREE

1. To diagnose this condition:

^ Enter output cycling
^ Manipulate affected wiring
^ Recheck for codes.

NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS

If the customer complains of harsh ride but the car has no RTD codes set, check for erratic HVAC operation. If so, check RTD Data SD20 and BCM Inputs for roadspeed. If both are equal to zero when car is driven then there is a problem with the PCM.

WHEN ALL DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIRS ARE COMPLETE, CLEAR CODES AND VERIFY OPERATION.
