Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR)

Electrical Diagram:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
Code 35 is set when the voltage at the "Sense Low" input, terminal "A6," is between 61% and 78% of the "36VLR" output voltage for 500 milliseconds during the "Continuous Monitoring" tests performed by the DERM. The "Continuous Monitoring" tests are performed by the DERM after the initial "Turn-ON" tests are completed and are performed every 100 milliseconds while "Ignition 1" voltage is present at the DERM. If one of the discriminating sensors is open, the voltage at the "Sense Low" input will increase due to the increase in the resistance of the discriminating sensor section of the deployment loop and Code 35 will set.

TEST CONDITION(S)
Tested every 100 milliseconds during "Continuous Monitoring".

FAILURE CONDITION(S)
Code 35 will set if the voltage at the "Sense Low" input, terminal "A6," is between 61% and 78% of "36VLR" output voltage for 500 milliseconds and the "36VLR" output voltage is greater than 28.4 volts and less than 44 volts.

ACTION TAKEN
DERM turns ON the "INFL REST" warning lamp.

CONDITIONS TO CLEAR
Current Code 35 will clear if the voltage at the "Sense Low" input, terminal "A6," is between 41% and 61% of "36VLR" output voltage for 500 milliseconds.

TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. This test determines if a fault exists in the deployment loop.
2. This test determines if the fault exists in the discriminating sensors and associated wiring or in the arming sensor.
3. This test determines if the fault exists in the FWD sensor or associated wiring.
4. This test checks the value of the diagnostic resistor in the FWD sensor.
5. This test checks for an open circuit along the entire harness length of CKT 349 including internal sensor nodes, pigtails and connectors.
6. This test checks for high resistance in CKT 348A.
7. This tests checks for a high internal resistance in the arming sensor.
8. This test determines if open exists in the RH sensor, its pigtail, or connector.
9. This test checks for an open in CKT 349 between FWD sensor and LH sensor.
10. This test checks for an internal open in the RH sensor.
11. This test checks for an open in CKT 349 between LH sensor and RH sensor.
12. This test checks for an internal open in the LH sensor.
13. This test determines if open exists in the RH sensor, its pigtail, or connector.
14. This test checks for an open in CKT 1003 between FWD sensor and RH sensor.
15. This test checks for an internal open in the RH sensor.
16. This test checks for an open in CKT 1003 between LH sensor and RH sensor.
17. This test checks for an internal open in the LH sensor.
