CIRCUIT OPERATIONThe fog lights are controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM). The BCM activates the fog lights when the Ignition Switch is in RUN, the Fog Light Switch is pressed and the hi beam Headlamps are off. Ignition RUN position is monitored at terminal 3D6 (the ignition 3 input). Hi beam status in monitored at terminal 1D7 (the hi beam input). The Fog Light Switch status is monitored through the lighting data line. The BCM also turns on the park lights when turning on the fog lights. The fog lights are turned off whenever the hi beams are turned on during fog light operation. The BCM turns the fog lights on again after the hi beams are turned off.
The BCM activates the fog lights by energizing the Front Fog Light Relay. Battery voltage is applied at all times to the Front Fog Light Relay coil and contacts through Circuit Breakers and CKT 661. The BCM energizes the relay by grounding the relay coil at terminal 3C6 (the front fog light relay output) through CKT 317. With the relay energized battery voltage is applied to the Fog Lamps through CKT 34.
