"CHANGE TRANS FLUID" Message
Transmission Control Circuit:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:
The PCM calculates a Transaxle Fluid Life Index using transaxle temperature and engine state (running or off). The Transaxle Fluid Life Index represents the remaining useful transaxle fluid life as a percentage of total life. When transaxle fluid life reaches 0%, the "CHANGE TRANS FLUID" message will appear.
The Transaxle Fluid Life Index is stored in non-volatile memory in the PCM and will not reset if battery power is lost or the PCM is removed. Transaxle fluid life may be changed through PCM override PS15 (see PCM override descriptions in this section for more information).
TEST CONDITION(S):
None.
FAILURE CONDITION(S):
Transaxle Fluid Life Index reaches 0%. ACTION TAKEN:
^ PCM turns "ON" the "CHANGE TRANS FLUID" message.
DIAGNOSIS:
Change transaxle fluid and reset Transaxle Fluid Life Index to 100.
