Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Exhaust Configuration:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
- Raise vehicle and support three way + oxidation catalytic converter.
- Intermediate exhaust pipe to converter clamp and O-ring hangars. Refer to figure.
- Exhaust manifold rear pipe flange bolts/springs.
- Converter.


INSTALL OR CONNECT
- Converter. Position intermediate pipe for needed clearance during converter installation.
- Exhaust manifold rear pipe to converter seal.
- Exhaust manifold rear pipe flange bolts/springs.
- Guillotine type clamp.
- Intermediate exhaust pipe bracket and O-ring hangars.


INSPECT
- Rear pipe flange bolts to 25 N-m (18.5 lbs. ft.).
- Clamp nuts to 50 N-m (37 lbs. ft.).
