- Powertrain/On-Board Diagnostic System Check
Diagnostic Chart.:
The PFI system check should be the starting point for all diagnosis. As a Master chart, it will direct you to performance tests or charts that can be found under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS. If any codes are stored go to the appropriate trouble code chart first then proceed with the PFI System Check.
NOTES ON PFI SYSTEM CHECK:
1. The Service Engine Soon light will remain on after the bulb check if there are one or more current codes present witch turn on a light. The light will turn off after 2 seconds if there are no current codes stored. The light will come back on after the engine has started for another 2 seconds and turn off, if there are no current codes present to turn the light on.
2. Chart A-3 diagnoses the situation of a faulty service engine soon lamp control circuit, or a PCM or system that turns on the light but cannot communicate diagnostic codes.
3. Perform switch tests found under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
