CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
During the 'Turn-ON' tests, performed at the beginning of each ignition cycle, the DERM delays the charging of the 'DRIVER'S 36VLR' and 'PASSENGER'S 36VLR' power supplies. While the delay is active the DERM measures the voltage at the 'DRIVER'S 36VLR' terminal 'A4', 'PASSENGER'S 36VLR' terminal 'A3', 'DRIVER'S SOURCE SENSE' terminal 'A5', and 'PASSENGER'S SOURCE SENSE' terminal A6'. When the voltage measured at the two '36VLR' power sup lies indicates they are in a discharged state, and the voltage measured at 'PASSENGER'S SOURCE SENSE' is within a specified range of Ignition 1 voltage and the voltage measured at 'DRIVER'S SOURCE SENSE' is specified amount below Ignition 1 voltage Code R081 is set. If neither the failure nor clear conditions are met, the state of the fault during the previous ignition cycle is used. Code R081 indicates an open driver ignition diode or a short between the 'DRIVER'S SOURCE SENSE' circuit and either 'DRIVER'S 36 VLR' or 'PASSENGER'S 36VLR' circuit. Code R081 is set for the entire ignition cycle.
TEST CONDITION(S)
1. 'Turn-ON' tests active.
2. The 'PASSENGER'S SOURCE SENSE' terminal A6' is greater than (Ignition 1-3.34 volts) and less than (Ignition 1+2 volts).
3. Neither 'DRIVER'S 36VLR' nor 'PASSENGER'S 36VLR' terminal 'A4' or 'A3' is yet active.
4. The 'DRIVER'S and PASSENGER'S 36VLR' terminals 'A4' and 'A3' are less than (Ignition 1-4.5 volts).
FAILURE CONDITION(S)
1. Voltage at 'DRIVER'S SOURCE SENSE' terminal 'A5' is less than (Ignition 1-3.34 volts).
ACTION TAKEN
1. DERM turns on the 'INFLATABLE RESTRAINT' indicator.
2. 'SERVICE SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATABLE RESTRAINT' message is displayed on DIC.
3. Code R081 remains set for the entire ignition cycle.
4. Current Code R081 clears each time the ignition switch is cycled from 'OFF' to 'ON' if the Test Conditions are true and voltage at 'DRIVER'S SOURCE SENSE' terminal 'A5' is greater than (Ignition 1-3.34 volts) and less than (Ignition 1 + 2 volts). If these conditions are not met the state of the fault in the previous ignition cycle will be used.
NOTES ON FAULT TREE
1. Checks for a short between the 'DRIVER'S SOURCE SENSE' and 'PASSENGER'S 36VLR' circuits.
2. Checks for a short between the 'DRIVER'S SOURCE SENSE' and 'DRIVER'S 36VLR' circuits.
3. Checks the Dual Pole Arming Sensor for an open ignition diode by measuring for proper voltage.
