Transmitter Diagnosis
If the central door unlock or automatic door lock feature is inoperative, refer to System Check for diagnosis. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic OverviewPerform the following check to diagnose all transmitter operations:
1. Move vehicle outside and as far away from metal objects as possible. Note: The RKE system may not operate if there are metal objects between the transmitter and the vehicle.
2. Turn ignition "OFF", roll windows down, and close doors.
3. Stand at rear bumper, aim transmitter at the RKE antenna, and operate all functions on both transmitters.
- If a single function on one transmitter is inoperative, replace that transmitter.
- If a single function on both transmitters is operative, refer to System Check for diagnosis.
- If all functions on one or both transmitters are inoperative, reprogram both transmitters and repeat diagnosis. If one transmitter will not program, replace the battery in that transmitter. If both transmitters will not program, open the trunk, hold the transmitter 2" from the receiver, and attempt to operate the system. If the system will not operate, refer to System Check for diagnosis. If the system will operate holding the transmitter 2" from the receiver:
- Check the antenna connection to receiver module.
Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
4. If all functions on both transmitters operate, stand fifteen feet from the vehicle at several points around the vehicle and check operation of both transmitters at each point.
- If one transmitter does not operate at some points where the other transmitter does operate, replace the battery of the transmitter that does not operate.
- If both transmitters operate 15 feet from the vehicle, the system is operating properly and no repairs should be attempted.
