NO ENGINE OIL PRESSURE (REPLACE ENGINE OIL PUMP)

1993 CADILLAC ALLANTE
1993-94 CADILLAC ELDORADO AND SEVILLE
1994 CADILLAC DEVILLE AND CONCOURS WITH 4.6L NORTHSTAR ENGINE (VINs 9 AND Y)

THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO CORRECT THE PARTS RETURN INFORMATION. PLEASE DISCARD BULLETIN 316110.

CONDITION:
Some owners may experience a complete lack of engine oil pressure as indicated by the illumination of the stop engine oil pressure message on the driver information center. Confirmation of this condition should be by actual pressure measurement with a mechanical gauge.

CAUSE:

The presence of debris between the oil pressure relief valve and its seat will prevent oil pressure buildup. The pressure relief valve is internal to the engine oil pump.

CORRECTION:

Replace the engine oil pump, P/N 3543258.

Defective pumps should be returned through the Corporate Parts Return Program to the address below. Refer to bulletin 91-1-44 for return and reimbursement procedures.
