Quarter Trim Panel - Loose/Rattles

File In Section: 10 - Body

Bulletin No.: 43-16-09

Date: October, 1994

Subject:
Quarter Trim Panel Loose and/or Rattles
(Modify Trim Panel/Replace Fasteners)

Models:
1992-94 Cadillac Eldorado
(1994 Vehicles Built Prior to January 1, 1994)

Condition

Some owners may comment the quarter trim panel is loose and/or rattles.

Cause

The quarter trim panel does not interface well with the rear shelf panel.

Correction

1. Check the fit of the trim panel to the quarter. If there is rear shelf interference, the trim panel may be modified by peeling back the cover material and cutting away some of the substrate (approximately 10 mm). Refer to View B.
2. Replace all push-in fasteners with a new square type, P/N 3545101.
3. Remove oil residue from two access cover slots on upper quarter panel (View A). This will allow for better retention of duct tape.
4. Using duct tape, cover the holes for the push-in fasteners. Slit the tape so the fasteners can be inserted. This will prevent the sheet metal from shearing the fasteners as they are being inserted.
