Bulletin No.: T-93-86
File in Group: 9
Number: 95
Corp.Ref.No.: 319002
Date: May, 1993

SUBJECT:
REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) SYSTEM INOPERATIVE OR UNWANTED OPERATION SURVEY

MODELS AFFECTED:
1993 ELDORADOS AND SEVILLES

Some 1993 Eldorados and Sevilles equipped with the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system (option code AUO) may experience one or both of the following conditions:

^ RKE System Inoperative - Trunk will not open or doors will not lock/unlock or illuminated entry lights will not turn "ON" with the activation of the transmitter etc.

^ Unwanted RKE System Operation - Trunk may open when the vehicle is in PARK or the door locks may lock/unlock without the activation of the transmitter etc.

To repair the above condition(s) follow diagnosis procedures specified in Service Information Manual, Section 9K. Replace RKE receiver per Service bulletin T-93-25 if condition(s) still exist.

To help us further understand the field RKE system failure we are requesting all Cadillac dealers assist us by filling out the survey (included) whenever an RKE system repair is performed. This survey is intended to be used so that Cadillac Customer Satisfaction can collect data on cars with RKE system service done at dealerships, evaluate that data, and report the results to Engineering to further aid our continuous product improvement process.

Due to the complex nature of radio frequency (RF) operated electronic systems (prone to jamming), it is very important to identify any vehicle and/or operating conditions when the system does not perform properly. This information may be best obtained by first asking the customer any applicable survey questions when the car is brought in for RKE system service.

This survey should be answered first by the Service Advisor with the customer input when the car is brought in for service. The form should be then completed by the Service Technician and returned with replaced parts (if any) to Cadillac at the address on the bottom of the survey form. This program will remain in effect until the end of the 1994 model year unless a bulletin is published to terminate it.

Please make photocopies of the survey if additional forms are needed.
