FRONT SEAT LUMBAR SUPPORT COMFORT
MODELS AFFECTED:
1992 ELDORADOS AND SEVILLES
1993 ELDORADOS (BEFORE VIN 615564) AND SEVILLES (BEFORE VIN 827353Y
Some owners of 1992-1993 Eldorados (before VIN breakpoint 615564) and Sevilles (before VIN breakpoint 827353) may feel that the seat back mechanical lumbar does not travel low enough in the seat back to provide adequate comfort. This condition is due to the limited range of travel in the lumbar unit.
This condition can be improved by installing a new lumbar unit which provides approximately one additional inch of downward travel. To replace the current lumbar unit use the following procedure:
1. Remove seat from vehicle. Refer to Section 10-10 of the appropriate Service Information Manual.
2. Remove seat side panel, head restraint, and seat back cover and foam. Refer to Section 10-10 of the Service Information Manual.
3. Remove seat back rear cardboard panel (six fasteners) and lumbar cables. Refer to Figure 1.
4. Remove lumbar unit by carefully prying open two clips along top and four clips along bottom. Refer to Figure 1.
5. Install new lumbar unit, P/N 16732467, with six clips.
6. Install rear cardboard and lumbar cables.
7. Install seat back cover and foam, head restraint, and seat side panel.
8. Install seat in vehicle.
