Scavenge, Primary & Secondary Pump Assemblies

Removal











1. Remove two 10 mm bolts from under scavenge pump cover.

2. Remove secondary pump body from pump assembly. This is a snug fit due to two dowels.

3. Remove oil pump driven shaft, then secondary pump gears.

4. Remove scavenge pump body from scavenge pump cover, then remove scavenge pump gears.

5. Remove primary body from scavenge pump cover, then remove primary gears.

6. Remove retainer clip, pump ball seat and cut off ball.

7. Remove retainer clip, pressure regulator boost valve sleeve, boost valve, pressure regulator valve spring, spring retainer and pressure regulator valve.

Inspection

1. Inspect pump gear surfaces for damage and/or scoring.

2. Inspect bushings for excessive wear and/or damage.

3. Inspect valves for nicks or scoring.

4. Inspect pump gear cavity surfaces for scoring or damage.

5. Inspect driven gear pins for excessive scoring and damage.


Installation

1. Install drive gears and driven gears with dimples facing up.

2. Install pressure regulator valve, pressure regulator spring retainer, spring, boost valve, boost valve sleeve and retainer clip.

3. Install cut off ball, pump ball seat and retainer clip.

4. Install secondary pump gears into secondary pump body, then primary pump gears into primary body.

5. Install scavenge cover onto primary pump body over dowel bushings. Tap dowels to stick out of both primary pump body and scavenge cover.

6. Install scavenge pump cover and primary pump body assembly onto secondary pump body. Press entire assembly firmly together.

7. Install oil pump driven shaft into pump assembly. End of shaft with four notches is located in secondary pump.

8. Install scavenge pump drive gear over oil pump driven shaft, then align scavenge pump gears next to drive gear.

9. Install thrust washer, bushing and scavenge pump driven gear pins into scavenge pump body if they were removed.

10. Install scavenge pump body onto scavenge pump cover locating scavenge pump driven gear pins into scavenge pump driven gears. Press firmly into position.

11. Install two bolts, scavenge pump cover to scavenge pump body. Torque bolts to 8-9.5 ft. lbs.
