Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Prime Pipe
PRESSURE BLEEDING - BPM VALVE PRIME PIPEBPM Valve Bleed Screw:
TOOL REQUIRED:
^ J 35589 Bleeder Adapter
^ J 29532 Diaphragm Type Brake Bleeder
NOTICE: Pressure bleeding equipment must be the diaphragm type and must have a rubber diaphragm between the air supply and the brake fluid to prevent air, moisture, oil and other contaminants form entering the hydraulic system.
IMPORTANT
^ If the entire brake system must be bled, the BPM valve prime pipe should always be done first to obtain proper results.
^ The prime pipe must be bled at the BPM valve located in the left front of the engine compartment.
^ The BPM valve prime pipe must be bled any time the master cylinder, reservoir, prime pipe or BPM valve is replaced. Also if the reservoir fluid level becomes too low due to a fluid leak or brake system service.
1. Fill master cylinder to proper level.
2. Remove engine compartment close-out panel above radiator.
3. Remove air cleaner box.
4. Remove bleed screw cap and place a proper size wrench over the BPM valve bleed screw.
5. Install a short piece of clear tube over the bleed screw. Put the other end of the tube in a clean container partially filled with brake fluid.
6. Remove master cylinder reservoir cap and install J 35589.
7. Charge bleeder to 140-172 kPa (20-25 psi).
8. Connect hose to adapter J 35589.
9. Open the valve on the brake bleeder tank.
10. Open the BPM valve bleed screw 3/4 turn and allow flow to continue until no air is seen in the fluid.
TIGHTEN
^ BPM valve bleed screw to 12 Nm (106 lb. in.).
- Be sure it seals.
- Replace bleed screw cap.
