Condition
Some of the above models may exhibit a rattling and/or looseness in the door trim pad area.
Cause
This condition may be due to the fit of the door trim pad to the door inner panel.
Correction
To repair this condition, use the following procedure:
1. Remove door trim pad. Refer to Section 10-6 of the Service Manual.
Important:
The Eldorados have a hidden screw in the upper rear area of the carpet insert and the Seville rear door trim pads may have an additional screw in the carpet area.
2. If the Seville door trim pad fits loose along the top edge and the clips are black, replace with silver clips.
3. Inspect speaker for missing, loose, or stripped attaching screw. Repair or replace as necessary.
4. Check door panel for loose stock.
5. Wrap foam tape from Kent Industries, P/N 40100 (5/8" x 1/8" adhesive-backed shim stock), or equivalent around each door hook and on Eldorado belt line clips. (See Figures 1 and 2).
6. Reinstall door trim pad. Make sure Seville door trim pads do not interfere with windshield garnish molding when replacing.
