CONDITION:
Some owners may experience accessory drive belt noise. This noise condition is most noticeable at idle.

CAUSE:
Accessory drive belt noise may be caused by "pilling" of the serpentine belt.

Serpentine belt pilling may result from deposits adhering to the belt and/or accessory drive pulleys. These deposits distort the "V" shaped geometry of the belt, causing a chirp sound as the belt seats into the pulley grooves.

CORRECTION:
A new serpentine belt has been developed to address this condition. Inspect the part number on the belt; if it reads 3542324, remove the belt as described in Section 6B2 of the Service Information Manual. Before installing the new serpentine belt, clean the grooves of the pulleys with a nylon bristle brush to remove any serpentine belt deposits.
