CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

CKT 1343 is used to turn the "PASS-Key(R) Fault" indicator "ON" or "OFF." This circuit is monitored by the CCM for faults. By turning the "PASS-Key(R) Fault" indicator light "OFF" and "ON," this is a means of alerting the driver/technician to any PASS-Key(R) II system faults.

TEST CONDITIONS

This fault can only be detected when the "PASS-Key(R) Fault" indicator is not being commanded "ON."

FAILURE CONDITIONS

After 5 seconds with IGN 1 "ON," and there is no PASS-Key(R) II lockout or fault set in the CCM.

ACTION TAKEN

DTC 31 is set in the CCM.

TEST DESCRIPTION

Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.

1. This test checks for normal operation of CKT 40.

2. This test checks for a "steady" "Pass-Key Fault" indicator light.

3. This test checks for voltage at C200 terminal "G7".

4. This test checks for voltage at CCM C1 connector.

5. This test checks if problem is in CCM or short to ground in CKT 1343.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS

An intermittent DTC 31 can be caused by the following:

^ Loose or damaged connections at CCM C1 connector.

^ An intermittent open or short to ground in CKT 1343.

^ An operative indicator light can be related to an open CKT 40.

^ If "Pass-Key(R) Fault" indicator stays "ON" constantly, check for short to ground in CKT 1343.

^ The Tech 1 can activate the "Pass-Key Fault" indicator for a quick check.
