Oil "Pressure" Indicator Not Working Properly
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTSIf the Oil "PRESSURE" Warning Indicator stays lit with the Engine running:
^ Check for adequate oil level. Check oil pressure with a mechanical gage.
^ Disconnect the connector to the Fuel Pump and Engine Oil Pressure Indicator Switch. If the indicator goes "OFF," install a new switch. If the indicator stays "ON," check the TAN wire back to the Instrument Cluster Connector C2 terminal "10" for a short to ground. If the condition is not found, remove the Instrument Cluster and inspect the printed circuit for a short. Also check that the I/P circuit is mating properly with its connector and not shorted there.
If the Oil "PRESSURE" Warning Indicator does not light before the Engine starts, and the bulb is good, measure the resistance from the Fuel Pump and Engine Oil Pressure Indicator Switch connector to ground.
^ If the resistance is not close to zero ohms, replace the Fuel Pump and Engine Oil Pressure Indicator Switch.
^ If the resistance is close to zero ohms, check the TAN wire back to the Instrument Cluster Connector C2 terminal "10" for an open. Also check that the I/P circuit has no cracks or flaws and is mating properly with its connector.
