Interior Lamps

FRONT CIGAR AND DOOR LIGHTERS
Voltage is applied at all times from Maxifuse 2 to I/P Fuses 28 and 29 to CKTs 840 and 2540. The Cigar Lighter has a heating element that, when pushed in, completes the circuit and begins to heat up. When the element is sufficiently heated, the Cigar Lighter opens the circuit.

TRUNK LAMP
Voltage from Maxifuse 2 is applied to I/P Fuse 26. CKT 340 carries current to the Trunk Lamp mounted to the Deck Lid. The Trunk Lamp will light whenever the Trunk Lid is opened.

DOOR COURTESY, ROOF RAIL COURTESY, VISOR, VANITY MIRROR, I/P COMPARTMENT LIGHTS AND UNDERHOOD LAMP
Voltage is applied through I/P Fuse 27 to the DIL Relay mounted in the I/P Relay Center. When the CCM receives a "WAKE UP" signal via CKT 156, CKT 157, CKT 158 or CKT 159, it will ground CKT 1393 to energize the DIL Relay, thereby causing battery voltage to be applied to CKT 823. About the same time this happens, the CCM will ground CKT 149, thereby allowing the Courtesy Lights and Roof Rail Courtesy Lights to illuminate. The DIL Relay will stay energized as long as the Ignition is left in"RUN."

When the Ignition is turned "OFF" (with all doors shut), the CCM will remove the ground from CKT 149 after 30 seconds has elapsed.

With Ignition "OFF" the Delayed Interior Lights (DIL) Feature of the CCM will then stay "ON" for 10 minutes by supplying voltage only to the B+ side of the Courtesy System. This will power up the Roof Rail Courtesy, I/P Compartment Lights, Underhood Lamp and Visor/Vanity Lights. This is not the same function as RAP and is to be considered a separate function of the CCM. If door or doors are left open longer than 10 minutes with the Ignition "OFF," the Courtesy System will shut off, because power is removed from CKT 823 when the CCM opens CKT 1393 to the DIL Relay. This is the "Power Drain Protection" feature of the CCM.

If CKT 1393 or CKT 149 is shorted to B+,open or shorted to ground, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be detected in the CCM. If the DTC is "current," the Courtesy Light System should not function normally.

ILLUMINATED ENTRY
Illuminated Entry can be activated from either front outside door handle, or the Remote Key less Entry/Universal Theft Deterrent (RKE/UTD) Transmitter.

When either front door handle is lifted, linkage connecting the front door outside handle to door lock mechanism causes the Mini Wedge Switch to ground CKT 157, thereby "WAKING UP" the CCM which in turn grounds CKT 1393. Also, when the rear doors are opened, the Rear Mini Wedge Switches ground CKT 157 when the Rear Door is unlatched. Thirty seconds after the last door is shut, the courtesy output of the CCM will deactivate. If the Ignition is turned to "RUN" before the Courtesy Lights "time out," the Courtesy Lights will shut "OFF" immediately.
