Troubleshooting Hints

PROCEDURE
1. Check LO Beam Headlights and HI Beam Headlights for damage to the filament or bulb.

CAUTION: Halogen bulbs contain a gas under pressure. Handling a bulb improperly could cause it to shatter into flying glass fragments. To help avoid personal injury:
^ Turn the Light Switch to "OFF" and allow bulb to cool before changing bulbs. Leave the switch in "OFF" until bulb change is complete.
^ Always wear eye protection when changing a halogen bulb.
^ Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass.
^ Do not drop or scratch the bulb. Keep moisture away.
^ Place the used bulb in the new bulb's carton and dispose of it properly. Keep halogen bulbs out of reach of children.

2. Check Forward Lights Electrical Center Fuses 2 and 4. If open, check CKTs 1140 and 1640 for a short to ground. Check I/P Fuses 14, 18, 34, 43 and I/P Circuit Breaker 5. If Fuse(s) are open, check CKTs 650, 839, 2240, 60 and 913 for a short to ground.
3. Check that grounds G102, G106, G207 and G400 are clean and tight.
4. Check that the Ambient Light Sensor is not obstructed.
5. If Headlights on one side are dimly lit, check the ground on that side.
6. If HI Beam Headlights do not light, but the HI Beam Indicator lights, check LT ORN (11) wire for an open.
7. If one Headlamp doesn't work, check the connections, Headlamp and the wires to the Headlamp.
8. If Twilight Sentinel System on (T82) vehicles never turns "ON," check CKT 271 for an unwanted ground.
^ Check for Central Control Module (CCM) DTC 34, 35, 36, 37, 40 & 41. Repair these faults first.
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system failure but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check.
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
