Transmission Identification

UPDATED TRANSMISSION NAME
The Hydra-matic 4L60 transmission assembly was formerly designated as the THM 700-R4 transmission assembly.

Automatic Transmission Identification:

IDENTIFICATION NAMEPLATE
All automatic transmission assemblies have a metal identification nameplate attached to the transmission case exterior or a stamped identification number on the transmission oil pan rail. This is shown in the accompanying image. The identification information will help in servicing the unit and ordering necessary parts.

Service Parts Identification Label:

IDENTIFICATION LABEL
Additional transmission assembly identification is provided on the service parts identification label as shown in the accompanying image. This label contains information on the Regular Production Options (RPO) as well as standard and mandatory options. This label is affixed to the inside of each vehicle at the assembly plant.
