SUBJECT:
ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND TRACTION CONTROL CYCLING ON 1993 REAR WHEEL DRIVE FLEETWOODS
The Cadillac Fleetwood Anti-Lock brake and traction control system may activate under various road and/or turning conditions. This is normal since wheel lock up or slip may occur under these conditions.
The Anti-Lock brakes are designed to activate if wheel locking tendency is noted during a brake application. Pedal pulsation is present during Anti-Lock braking as are ticking or popping noises from the brake pressure modulator valve. Variation in pedal height may result when Anti-Lock braking is initiated on bumpy or loose road surfaces.
Traction control is designed to apply the brakes and/or throttle adjuster assembly if a difference in wheel speeds occurs during even slight acceleration. Various road and/or turning conditions may also cause wheel speed differences.
These conditions are normal but may cause some customer comments if they do not understand that various conditions may cause the Anti-Lock brakes or traction control to activate. If a comment of this nature is encountered, an explanation of the system design intent should help eliminate customer concerns.
