Date: April, 1993
SUBJECT:
ERRATIC RADIO VOLUME CONTROL (REPLACE RADIO CONTROL HEAD)
MODELS AFFECTED:
1993 FLEETWOODS (RWD)
The 1993 Fleetwood (RWD) radio may exhibit a condition of erratic volume changes during the first few minutes of operation in cold ambients. The radio will operate normally once the temperature of the passenger compartment warms up.
This condition may be caused by the Speed Compensated Volume (SCV) control circuitry within the radio control head. When the SCV circuitry is operating normally, the radio volume will increase as vehicle speed increases to compensate for road noise.
To repair this condition replace the radio control head per procedures in Section 8C of the Service Information Manual. Refer to DSIB 93-I-1 for radio control head exchange procedures. Note on the repair ticket of the radio control head to "Repair per Document RD93TBB03".
