License Bracket, Front - Loose or Rattles

Group Ref.: Body

Bulletin No.: 431025

Date: April, 1994

SUBJECT:
FRONT LICENSE BRACKET LOOSE OR RATTLES
(INSTALL NUTS AND SCREWS)

MODELS:
1992-94 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD (RWD)
(IN LOCATIONS REQUIRING FRONT LICENSE PLATES)

CONDITION:

Some owners with front license plates may comment that their front license bracket is loose or rattles.

CORRECTION:

The bracket is held onto the bumper bar with three screws and push in plastic nuts. Starting in 1994, two 6 mm diameter steel nuts and screws are released for the outboard attachment points and are in the bracket package shipped with new cars.

When addressing the above concern, remove and discard the three screws and plastic nuts and install two M6X1 x 25 mm long screws (P/N 11509363 or equivalent) with captive washers and two M6X1 nuts (P/N 11508277 or equivalent) with captive washers at the outboard attachment points.

Torque fasteners 8 to 12 N-m.

NOTE:
If equivalents are used, washers must be present at screw heads and nuts to protect the bumper and bracket, and the fasteners and washers must be plated for exterior corrosion protection.

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
