Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Component Tests and General Diagnostics

PROCEDURE
1. If all Power Windows are inoperative, check I/P Fuse 19 and I/P Circuit Breaker 2. If open, check for a short to ground in CKT 750 and CKT 70 for I/P Fuse 19, and CKT 661 for I/P Circuit Breaker 2.
2. If windows move slowly, check that:
^ Windows free of mechanical binding and pivot joints are greased.
^ Battery is fully charged.
^ Ground G200 is clean and tight.

3. If switches do not illuminate when Park Lights are turned "ON," refer to "Interior Lights," under Lighting and Horns, System Diagnosis.
4. If the Express Down Feature does not work, but window moves down with each switch depression, replace the Master Power Window Switch Assembly.
5. If the Rear Lockout Switch does not disable the Rear Windows, check CKT 1307 for a short to Battery Pos. If OK, replace the Window Lockout Switch.
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system failure but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check. These circuits maybe intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
