Compressor Replacement
A/C SERVICE PROCEDURESNOTE: Some procedures list removal procedures only. To reinstall, reverse the removal procedure, using new lubricated 0-rings, and evacuate and charge the refrigeration system, when needed.
COMPRESSOR AND MOUNTING BRACKETS
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Discharge A/C System.
2. Serpentine belt. Hoist car.
Compressor Splash Shield:
3. Three compressor splash shield screws and splash shield.
Compressor Splash Shield:
4. Four right engine splash shield retainers and splash shield.
5. Compressor electrical connection.
Compressor Hose Assembly Retention:
6. Compressor hose assembly bolt.
HR-6 Compressor Mounting:
7. Loosen AIR pump to compressor brace bolt one turn.
8. Compressor mounting bolts and compressor.
9. Compressor port 0-rings.
10. Drain and measure oil in the compressor.
11. Compressor mounting bracket bolts and brackets.
TIGHTEN
^ Compressor mounting bracket bolts, 45 Nm (33 lb.ft.).
^ Compressor mounting bolts, 30 Nm (22 lb.ft.).
^ Compressor mounting bolt, 40 Nm (29 lb.ft.).
^ Compressor hose assembly bolt, 32 Nm (24 lb.ft.).
NOTICE: All leaks must be repaired. Under no circumstances should compressor be operated when a leak exists. Loss of refrigerant prevents oil return to compressor and operating compressor may damage it.
NOTICE: During removal and installation of the compressor, it is important that all lines be capped when disconnected to insure that air, moisture or dirt does not enter the system.
