CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
During the 'Continuous Monitoring' tests, the DERM monitors the voltage at the 'DRIVER'S SOURCE SENSE', terminal AS'. When the circuit is operating normally, the measured voltage will be slightly less than 'DRIVER'S 36 VLR'. If the voltage measured at 'DRIVER'S SOURCE SENSE', terminal A5', is equal to (Ignition 1±5 volts) for 500 milliseconds, Code R031 will set. Code R031 indicates an open in CKT 236, open in driver reserve diode inside Dual Pole Arming Sensor, short to voltage on CKT 1400 or high resistance in CKT 1400.
TEST CONDITION(S)
Tested every 100 milliseconds while 'Continuous Monitoring' tests active.
FAILURE CONDITION(S)
'DRIVER'S SOURCE SENSE', terminal AS', is equal to (Ignition 1 ± 5 volts) for 500 milliseconds.
ACTION TAKEN
1. DERM turns on the 'INFLATABLE RESTRAINT' indicator.
2. 'SERVICE SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATABLE RESTRAINT' message is displayed on DIC.
NOTES ON FAULT TREE
1. Checks for an open in the 'DRIVER'S 36 VLR' CKT 236.
2. Checking for high resistance but not an open in 'DRIVER'S SOURCE SENSE', CKT 1400.
3. Checking for a short to voltage on 'DRIVER'S SOURCE SENSE', CKT 1400.
4. This test determines if the fault is due to a fault within the Dual Pole Arming sensor or a faulty DERM.
