CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
During the 'Continuous Monitoring' tests, the DERM monitors the voltage at 'PASSENGER'S SOURCE SENSE', terminal A6'. When the circuit is operating normally the measured voltage will be slightly less than 'PASSENGER'S 36 VLR'. If the 'PASSENGER'S 36 VLR' circuit opens the voltage measured at 'PASSENGER'S SOURCE SENSE' will decrease to (Ignition 1 ± 5 volts). When the voltage measured at 'PASSENGER'S SOURCE SENSE' is (Ignition 1 ± 5 volts) for 500 milliseconds, Code R036 sets.
TEST CONDITION(S)
Tested every 100 milliseconds while 'Continuous Monitoring' tests active.
FAILURE CONDITION(S)
Voltage at 'PASSENGER'S SOURCE SENSE', terminal 'A6', is equal to (Ignition 1 ± 5 volts) for 500 milliseconds.
ACTION TAKEN
1. DERM turns on the 'INFLATABLE RESTRAINT' indicator.
2. 'SERVICE SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATABLE RESTRAINT' message is displayed on DIC.
NOTES ON FAULT TREE
1. Checks for an open in the 'PASSENGER'S 36 VLR' circuit.
2. This test checks for high resistance, but not an open in the 'PASSENGER'S SOURCE SENSE' circuit.
3. Checks for a short to voltage in the 'PASSENGER'S SOURCE SENSE' circuit.
4. This test determines if the fault is due to a fault within the Dual Pole Arming Sensor or a faulty DERM.
